Abstract Textures Series
This is a series of contemporary artwork started in 2010 featuring whole cloth hand dyed fabrics created in the wet studio of textile artist Jean M. Judd. This series started with banded cloth in the Sound Waves series. It then progressed into the Abstract Textures series which features hand painted artworks using the same dyes used in the Sound Waves series. Random strokes of color stand out, flow and blend into each other creating dynamic pieces. Dense stitching produces shadowing, swirls, and raised texture to each artwork.
The Abstract Textures pieces are referred to as "hand stitched paintings" by collectors and gallerists alike. Another series of textile artworks that could also be included in this area are the Contaminated Water series. Each piece is hand stitched with a unique design that is both physically and visually textural.
There are over three dozen additional pieces in progress for this series.
