Blue Angel (2009), Jean M. Judd, Textile Artist This is the fifth in a series of quilts featuring a hand cross stitched center medallion panel.

The fine, hand quilting complements the overall design of the piece. The yellow triangles and black frame draws your attention to the blue Angel and the blue borders draw out more of the colors in her dress. A muted Oriental print is incorporated between the gold flecked blue fabric.

The hand quilting design in the burgundy and black swirled border gives this piece it’s finishing touch. The final border looks like rumpled satin.

Butterflies in the Dark (2008), Jean M. Judd, Textile Artist This piece features as it's centerpiece, a delicately hand cross stitched image of butterflies and dragonflies flirting in foliage. This is the fourth piece in this series.

The center is framed with black fabric and a warm yellow fabric radiates out from the piece in a diamond pattern.

The piece is then completed with repeating diagonal frames of light green and then a cream fabric with Oriental writing.

The piece is heavily hand quilted and in the final black border with "ghost" butterflies densely echo quilted in varying colors to coordinate with the colors in the center.

Eagle Wings (2007), Jean M. Judd, Textile Artist This piece has a hand cross stitched center medallion of an eagle landing on a branch. This is the third piece in this series of art quilts. It is framed with a cotton textile that looks like leather. Eagle feathers are hand quilted into the small brown borders. A profile of an eagle head is hand quilted in the outer border along with echoing arcs. Cloud formations are echo quilted in the four corners as well.

The entire piece is hand quilted, hand cross stitched and hand bound.

Hummingbirds in Flowers (2004), Jean M. Judd, Textile Artist The back of the wall hanging is covered traditionally, with unbleached muslin and is signed and dated by the quilter.

The quilting stitches are heirloom-quality and greatly enhance the overall design of the piece. The hand quilting of the hummingbird silhouettes in the black border gives this piece its finishing touch.

The hand quilting was done to complement the hummingbirds in the cross stitched center panel. A wonderful floral patterned fabric as well as a muted Oriental print is incorporated around the hummingbirds giving the illusion that they are suspended in an Oriental flower garden.
